4-H Summer Camp
Accept the Challenge....consider a 4-H Center teaching staff position with the William P. Ridley 4-H Center's summer program. You will have an opportunity to gain life skills while in the company of other college students and staff who will guide and direct you.

Duties of the summer 4-H teaching staff will primarily be with youth in grades 4-8 during the months of May-July. College students who are pursuing majors in Art, Education, Environmental Sciences, Marketing, Music, Parks and Recreation and other related fields should consider this opportunity. Arrangements can be made with many colleges and universities to receive university credit for field study or internships while receiving compensation.
What staff positions are available for summer 4-H camp?
Archery Instructor: basic knowlege of the operation and safety of

archery and the ability to teach campers the basic skills of archery.
Concession Standand Attendant: responsible for selling tickets for all camp activities and overseeing the operation of the concession stand, assist in ordering sale items, organizing and maintaining inventory, bookkeeping knowledge, and have the ability to make change.
Craft Instructor: ability to lead campers in a variety of craft activities that involve leather and woodworking, have a sense of creativity, organize and inventory all craft items, while making sure proper care of all craft materials and equipment is taken.
Landscape Engineer: assist with keeping the grounds well groomed and safe, work with the 4-H Center manager to develop mowing schedule to keep grass neat, and provide for maximum camper safety and minimum disturbance to camp activities.
Lifeguard (swimming pool): must have current Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification and First Aid/CPR certification, be able to provide leadership and instruction for the swimming program, provide swim lessons for campers, and be responsible for providing proper care of all swimming pool related equipment.
T-Shirt Shop Instructor: inspire campers to increase their appreciation
of art and to help them complete a craft, provide direction for campers in creating a design for a t-shirt while using air brush equipment or assisting campers with a tie-dye project.
*Camp staff will also be responsible for leading the opening night's campfire program, evening activities, and assisting with various facilities maintenance and janitorial duties.
Take A Walk On The Wild Side Program
The Ridley 4-H Center is currently accepting applications for teaching positions in the outdoor science education program. We are seeking individuals who have experience working with youth, great leadership skills, creativity, motivated, energetic, and current First Aid/CPR certification. Preference will be given to those who are currently pursuing or have acquired a BS degree in Biology, Ecology, Education, Environmental Science, Parks and Recreation, or related field.
Staff members will be responsible for teaching research-based, hands-on environmental

education classes and evening activities for students in grades kindergarten through eight. Staff will lead classes that focus on Agriculture, Forest Ecology, Global Connections, GPS, Soils, Team Building, Water, and Wildlife.
Positions are available from March-May and/or August-October with a possibility to work through the summer months assisting with the 4-H summer camping program.
*Staff will also assist in various facilities maintenance and janitorial duties.
What are the benefits of working at the 4-H Center?

Camp staff live on campus in a beautiful, fully furnished staff house which sleeps 16 and includes a large common room with complete kitchen, cable TV and high-speed wireless internet access. Staff members are paid hourly with the opportunity to work 40 hours per week with overtime pay for anything over 40 hours. Training for the 4-H summer camp staff will be held May 18-20, 2012.
