Ethel Bonner
Internship County:  Putnam County
Major: Child Development & Family Relations
 
Ethel Lynette Bonner plans to graduate in August 2015 from Tennessee Technology University with a Bachelors’ degree in Child Development & Family Relations. She served as a Student Leader Intern for the Children’s Defense Fund where she assisted youth in underserved areas. As a result, her passion for making a difference in the lives of children and families began. Ethel has worked as a camp counselor for the city of Oak Ridge and is an active member of the Child Development and Family Relations Club. Her interests are “do-it-yourself” projects, painting and couponing. Ultimately, Ethel hopes to receive her Master’s degree in Child Development & Family Relations and pursue a career as an Extension County Agent, or Child Advocate for the Children’s Defense Fund. Ethel will be working in the Putnam County Extension Office this summer.
 


Kyla Council
Internship County:  Rutherford County
Major: Nutrition and Food Science
 
Kyla Council recently graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a minor in Spanish. During her college career, Kyla worked was a resident assistant and desk assistant in two residence halls. Her hobbies include playing violin, reading, and building gaming computers. Her experience includes working at a day care center and volunteering with The Journey Home MTSU Housing program. After college, Kyla plans to further her education and obtain a Master’s degree in Nutrition Science. Kyla will be working in the Rutherford County Extension Office this summer.
 


Mawiyah Hayes
Internship County:  Cannon County
Major: Nutrition and Food Science
 
Mawiyah Hayes recently graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelors’ degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a minor in Health. Mawiyah has volunteered at several organizations including the Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club, American Cancer Society, and Feed the Children. In her personal time, she enjoys dancing, cooking, and traveling. After graduation, Mawiyah’s goal is to obtain a job in a community setting where she can use her skills to help people live a healthy lifestyle. Mawiyah will be working in the Cannon County Extension Office this summer.
 


Alexis Pigg
Internship County:  Knox County
Major: Animal Science
 
Alexis Pigg recently graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Alexis feels that choosing to attend UT was one of the best decisions she has ever made. Some of her interests include singing in the Love United Gospel Choir, being a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, and reading. One of her favorite books is The Giving Tree because its message embodies selflessness which inspires her to help others. She plans to pursue a career with UT Extension. Alexis will be working in the Knox County Extension Office this summer.
 


Lindsey Miller
Internship County:  Williamson County
Major: Family Consumer Science
 
Lindsey Miller plans to graduate in December 2015 from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Consumer Science with a minor in Global Studies. She currently holds an Associate’s degree in Commercial Digital Photography. Lindsey has a passion for studying families, children, different cultures, and loves to travel. In May 2014, she visited Singapore to study early childhood programs as part of a Study Abroad program. Upon graduation, she hopes to find a job that allows her to incorporate all of her passion for Family and Consumer Science and wishes to travel to see more of the world. Lindsey will be working in the Williamson County Extension Office this summer.
 


Sarah Maccaro
Internship County:  Maury County
Major: Animal Science
 
Sarah Maccaro recently graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Sarah grew up in the small, rural town of Fairview, TN where she gained a deep, broad love for all facets of the agricultural industry. She enjoys everything to do with being outside from kayaking and hiking to reading on the porch with her coffee. It is Sarah’s hope to one day be a specialist in livestock production in Extension as a means to help producers learn the most current and efficient ways of raising our country's animals. Sarah plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Agricultural Extension Education in fall 2015. Sarah will be working in the Maury County Extension Office this summer.
