The Sustainable Landscape Design workshops will be delivered in Knoxville, Murfreesboro, and Jackson in summer and fall, 2017. This course will provide basics training in landscape design, and will be of interest to Commercial Horticulture and Environmental Stewardship Agents and Specialists. Topics to be covered, including plants that clean up contaminated soils (phytoremediation), plants that are low maintenance/low water consumers(Xeriscaping), and plants that prevent flooding (rain gardens).

Requirements met in this Event:

  • Participants will be informed about the scope of sustainable landscape design, which goes beyond simple but beautiful flower and shrub arrangements;
  • Participants will be trained in basics of sustainable landscape design;
  • Specifically, participants will become competent it the many sustainable functions of landscape plants;
  • Participants will also be trained in solar powered outdoor lighting and other unique  "hardscapes' to enhance landscape planting designs;
