Local Clubs

All club meetings have been cancelled through July 31.  The Wilson County FCE board has outlined guidelines regarding local club meetings through the end of 2020.  It is very important to remember that several of our club members fall within a vunerable population.  Let's make sound decisions to keep all our members safe.

1.  Employ CDC recommendations for group meetings.  If your club cannot meet all these guidelines completely,         clubs should not meet in person.

      a.  Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces

      b.  All members present should wear facemasks

      c.  Provide hand sanitizer

      d.  Encourage hand washing

      e.  Social distance (at least 6 feet apart)

      f.  Limit meeting times

      g.  Do not share supplies (refrain from offering craft projects during this time)

      h.  Do not provide food at meetings

2.   Club meetings scheduled at the Extension Office or Ag Center will not take place, these clubs will need to find        alternative meeting spaces.

3.   If your club need help creating virtual or conference call meetings, please let me know and I will be happy to        assist or host.

4.  Please see the risk of COVID-19 spreading charts at events and gatherings listed below.

Rental of Clubhouses

The Wilson County FCE board strongly discourages clubs to rent buildings to the general public through at least the end of 2020.  If clubs decide they want to do this, including to members or members family, please contact your insurace company.  Review your policy and make any necessary coverage changes.

The rist of COVID-19 spreading at events and gatherings increases as follows:

  • Lowest risk:  Virtual-only activities, events and gatherings.
  • More risk:  Smaller outdoor and in-person gatherings in which individuals from different households remain spaced at least 6 feet apart, wear cloth face coverings, do not share objects, and come from the same local area (e.g., community, town, city or county)
  • Higher risk:  Medium-sized, in-person gatherings that are adapted to allow individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart and with attendees coming from outside the local area
  • Highest risk:  Large in-person gatherings where it is difficult for individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart and attendees travel from outside the local area.

Family and Consumer Sciences staff work to address important issues facing Tennesseans as they cope with social, economic and technological changes. Many of these changes threaten the health, safety and well-being of individuals, families and communities. Today as never before the subject matter of Family and Consumer Sciences such as nutrition, parenting, child care, family financial management, indoor air quality, sustainable housing, children's environmental health, etc. have moved to the forefront of community and legislative agendas. The general public, as well as, key leaders have recognized what we inside the field have long known; addressing these issues to develop strong families ultimately leads to strong communities. The long term impact is an economic one.
