FCS Programs and Information

"This tomato-apple relish is sweet and particularly good poured over grilled hamburgers and sausages." 


6 cups ripe tomatoes                                1 cup cider vinegar
4 cups tart apples                                     1 cup raisans
4 cups finely chopped onions                     1 teaspoon salt
2 each red and green bell peppers             1 tablespoon mustard seed
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar            1 1/2 teaspoons celery seed
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.  Reduce heat to medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, for 1 hour or until mixture is quite thick and all liquid has been absorbed.
Meanwhile prepare 4 pint-sized canning jars and process 10 minutes in boiling water bath canner.
