Family and Community Education (FCE) Clubs
FCE is an organization of volunteers who work together to build strong
families and communities. Educational
material are created and utilized at monthly meetings to strengthen knowledge
and skills. Resources are provided to
development leadership skills, enabling people to make a difference. Rutherford FCE members strive to make our

Girl Talk
Girl Talk has been developed to bring mothers and daughters together in a
non-threatening, friendly environment to learn together about sexuality,
communication, family values, and decision making. The curriculum presents
factual information about sexuality, body changes, male and female differences,
pregnancy, fetal development, parent responsibilities, STDs, and making
responsible decisions. Girl Talk encourages both mother and daughter to apply
the skills learned to develop an open communication system within the family.
Girl Talk Too
Girl Talk Too targets youth 12 and older to provide them with next level factual
information about sexuality, body changes, pregnancy, fetal development, parent
responsibilities, STDs, and making responsible decisions. . Girl Talk encourages both mother and
daughter to apply the skills learned to develop an open communication system
within the family.
Guy Talk
Guy Talk has been developed to bring fathers and sons together in a
non-threatening, friendly environment to learn together about sexuality,
communication, family values, and decision making. The curriculum presents
factual information about sexuality, body changes, male and female differences,
pregnancy, fetal development, parent responsibilities, STDs, and making
responsible decisions. Guy Talk encourages both father and son to apply the
skills learned to develop an open communication system within the family.
Raising Cain
This program helps adults understand why boys behave the way they do.
Although this program covers information related to boys from birth to high
school, there are lessons/components that focus on birth to 5 and the child
care audience. The program can be taught to middle/high school youth,
parents, child care providers and dads. It can be adapted into a 1 to all
day program.
How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk/Jerkette
How do you know if a person is compatible as a life-long partner?
What does it take to really get to know someone? Have you made choices in the
past that left you unhappy?
In this program you will learn the three important things it takes to learn
more about someone: time - talk - togetherness. Using the FACE
model (FAMILY dynamics, ATTITUDES, COMPATIBILTY, EXAMPLES of previous
relationship patterns, SKILLS for relationships) you will learn skills to help
you choose the right person and eliminate the jerks!
Real Colors®
Real
Colors® is a dynamic workshop experience using a personality type
test. The goal is to provide participants with the skills to understand human
behavior, uncover motivators specific to each temperament and improve
communication with others. The basis of this workshop is the Real Colors®
Personality Type Test: a user-friendly, intuitive tool that identifies four
personality types common to all people—Gold, Green, Blue, and Orange.
Safe Side
This program
is nationally recognized by the Center for Missing and Exploited Children and
promoted heavily by the well-known John Walsh. This program focuses on the
issues of “stranger danger” and the issues related to the multitude of dangers
that lurk on the internet. The program can be adapted to students Pre K-High
School. The program can be taught with parents and child care providers as
well. It can be adapted as a 1-4 hour program.
Love Languages
Based on the work of Dr. Gary Chapman,
who created the love languages in 1992 after more than a decade of marital
therapy, this program will enhance or strengthen your relationship. You will
learn your love language and the love language of your partner. This
will inform you of ways to give your partner the love they
want and need. You will learn five different love languages and ways to “talk
that language”.
