The 4-H Sewing Room
(Online sewing classes for youth)
We have a full line-up of virtual sewing
classes for youth currently in 4th-12th grades in
Rutherford County. With instructive videos from a 4-H Agent, Raquel Victor, youth
will learn the basics of sewing and can follow along at their own pace.
- Instructional classes on virtual Zoom (classes are
pre-recorded, student can follow along at home when convenient that month
and at their own pace)
- Registration required online in advance to participate
- Class sizes are limited
- Registration will be online from September 15th
to October 1st (or when classes are full)-see our UT TSU

- Fee for class session is $10 (will receive a small
sewing supply kit for classes)
- Student will need to purchase a sewing kit (you can buy
at Joann’s or Hobby Lobby)
- Student will need a sewing machine (Walmart has a Singer
brand machine for around $90 that works great), you can “rent” one of our
office sewing machines by contacting rvictor@utk.edu in advance (rental fee involved then refunded after
classes)
- Payment required in advance by check (info to be sent out after registering) Payments will need to be mailed into the office.
- Registration is for 5 sessions (once a month from
October to February -no meeting in December)
- Parents must sign a publicity release form for the
4-H’er to be on Zoom
- Beginner Sewing- for youth in 4th-12th
grade
- Sessions will be From 5pm-6pm
- Intermediate Sewing- must have taken 4-H beginner
sewing for 2 years to be in this class
- Sessions will be from 6:15pm-7:15pm

will meet “live” virtually on Zoom to discuss what the 4-H’er has learned

*How to sew a face mask

the 4-H’er has learned
