Family & Consumer Sciences

Co-parenting: Parenting Apart Classes

Contact: Bianca Hamilton, Extension Agent
State of Tennessee court mandated classes for divorcing parents with children under the age of 18 yrs. old. Classes conducted monthly at the UT/TSU Extension Office 1030 Cumberland Heights Road Clarksville, TN. Class fee is $40.00, in advance or $50.00, at the door. Bianca Hamilton, instructor. Call 931-648-5725 to register for the class. 

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Program

Programming includes free Nutrition Education, cooking classes, and parenting for pregnant and nursing mothers, children grades 3-12, and families with the responsibility of feeding children that qualify for any public assistance. Other programs available are Nutrition for the school classroom and after school cooking classes. We have parent and child classes for a fun family learning atmosphere. For adult programming contact Schelese Ogburn, Community Nutrition Educator for Adults.

 

Tennessee Saves

This educational program objective is to help Tennessee families protect wealth, plan for a secure financial future, pay down debt, and protect against financial fraud.

 

First Time Home Buyers

Contact: Tamera Adjei, Extension Agent
Potential home buyers are encouraged to contact the Extension as their first stop in the home buyer process. For THDA Loans it is a requirement to have an 8 hours or greater course with a certified THDA instructor.

Commercial Kitchen

Contact: Tamera Adjei,  Extension Agent

TN Shapes Up

Includes our Arthritis Self Help Course, the MYB Exercise Class, Culinary Arts, Walk Across Tennessee and other food safety and security programs. Walk Across Tennessee starts June 3- July 28 Walk Across Tennessee is a 6 week walking program. Teams of 8 (one captain, plus 7 additional walkers) or 3 runners or bikers.  Walk Across Tennessee is a 6 week walking program. Winter Market (closed for season)

Come to the Smith Trahern Mansion on Fridays, 101 McClure Street, Clarksville from 9:30 - 1:30 to shop local vendors. There is home baked goods, crafts, food demonstrations, and home grown vegetables (in season), Holiday gift ideas and much more.
