The 4-H Horse program is developed for individuals who have a passion for horses whether they own one or not. Some activities offered include the following:
Non-Riding Horse Activities:
Horse Club - 4th - 12th graders meet once a month for Equine Education and Fun! Meetings are held monthly after school hours.
Horse Bowl & Hippology - Quiz bowl to test equine IQ. Practices begin in November, competition is in January.
Horse Judging - Members learn the criteria for different equine disciplines and then attend 3+ judging contests in March, April, and August.
Horse Speech and Demonstration Contests - Individuals can create a speech or equine related demonstration and present it at competitions.
Horseback Riding Activities:
Local, Regional & State Horse Shows - Any 4-H member who wishes to participate in any 4-H sanctioned shows MUST submit a horse enrollment form by March 1st of each year. Members are then eligible for any and all 4-H sanctioned shows for the upcoming show season. See below for more information on upcoming horse shows.
Drill Team - Members of the Horse Club learn different types of riding styles and create a routine to perform at area horse shows. Tryouts are held and practices are mandatory.
