Advancement levels: School, County, State
Project Lesson Month: January
County contest: March

School and community group lessons are generally conducted in the month of January with the optional "Piggy Bank" project due in late February. The county "Piggy Bank" contest is held in the month of March with county contest winners judged by grade level.

Participating in the Save, Share, and Spend program encourages youth to set savings goals and strive to achieve those goals. Through the Tennessee Saves 4-H youth initiative, participants will come to understand that saving money at an early age can contribute to responsible money management into adulthood. In addition to gaining a better understanding in the difference between needs versus wants, participants will have an option to use their creativity to construct a “Piggy Bank” that can be entered in the county contest. Awards are also offered at the State level in the “Piggy Bank” project.
