Description

At this meeting there will a brief talk on how microscopy can be used in beekeeping, followed by hands-on demonstrations. Leading the talk will be Dr. Deb Lannigan, a beekeeper and Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Assisting will be Dr. Bill Poston (doctor of Pathology and a beekeeper) and Kasia Ludwik, a beekeeper-in-training and a graduate student in Dr. Lannigan’s laboratory. Following Dr. Lannigan’s talk there will be microscopy workshops in which you can actively participate. If interested you can bring a sample of your honey, 20 – 30 dead bees and/or a pollen sample. Extension Agent David Cook will assist in the microscopy workshops.
