The Mediterranean Eating Pattern

A Four Week Journey to Healthier Eating—Bedford County 2020

The Mediterranean way of eating is one of the healthiest in the world.  It has been well researched and is one of the recommended patterns in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  The focus is on fresh fruits and vegetables, olive oil, whole grains, fish, seafood, spices and some lean meat.

Through this four session class we will explore the principles, dishes, ingredients and meal planning of the Mediterranean Eating Pattern.  We'll explore the cuisines of the countries surrounding the Mediterranean through powerpoint presentations, cooking demonstrations, tastings of ingredients and dishes and learn how to apply all of this to our southern U.S. meals.

If you would like to make your diet more healthy or just learn more about this eating pattern and some new recipes, come join us each Friday in March at 10:00 a.m. at the Extension Office.  See the flyer and registration form below and mail or drop off with your $20 for the four sessions.
