Bedford County Extension

We are an outreach branch of the University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University, cooperating with Bedford County, in providing research-based information to the public.  We are funded through a cooperative agreement between federal, state and county governments. All of our programs are offered to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, age, national origin, sex or disability and we are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Bedford County is located in Middle Tennessee, about an hour south of Nashville and is known for Tennessee Walking Horses and pencil factories.  Shelbyville is the home of the National Walking Horse Celebration and is the county seat of Bedford County.  Bedford County has a population of 45,947 with 474 square miles and has several outlying towns as well including Bell Buckle, Normandy, Wartrace and Unionville (unincorporated).

Please feel free to contact us for information about our programs.  We look forward to serving you.
