BEDFORD COUNTY DAIRY TEAM COMPETES IN NATIONAL CONTEST

The Bedford County 4-H dairy judging team competed in the National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Madison, Wisconsin, September 27-October 1, 2014. The team was composed of Justin Richardson, Caleb Richardson, Allison Massey, and Matthew Parker.

The team flew to Chicago, Illinois to begin their trip. They spent some time touring the city. After Chicago, the team traveled to Janesville, Wisconsin where they had practice workouts to help prepare them for the contest. The team had practice workouts at Hoard’s Dairyman Farm as well as a few other places and then toured the National Dairy Shrine Museum and NASCO International. After the workouts, they made their way to Madison, Wisconsin for the National Contest. While in Madison, the team also toured the State Capital Building and University of Wisconsin. They also spent time at World Dairy Expo watching the Holstein, Jersey and Ayrshire shows and in addition to visiting the trade show area.

Bedford County 4-H  would like to thank each and every person that helped support the team. This was an opportunity that very few get to experience! We would also like to thank the coach, Gay Ervin, for all of the hard work and dedication she has put into the dairy program in Bedford County.
