he University of Tennessee Extension is preparing to meet the needs of Tennessee communities related to biosecurity and disaster management. Through the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN), extension agents are preparing to provide educational programs on disaster preparation and mitigation, to assume locally appropriate roles during disasters, and collaborate in recovery efforts. Family and Consumer Sciences Emergency Preparedness Program — Information to help individuals and families plan & prepare for a disaster, information on what to do if a disaster occurs, and information on how to recover from a disaster.

Family and Consumer Sciences Bioterrorism/Homeland Security Web Site

Farm-A-Syst — to help farm families and rural residents assess and reduce risks affecting the quality of their water.

Farm Safety and Health — Web site providing information on prevention and management of environmental hazards; proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials; farm equipment safety; and other safety and health issues.

Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) — Training in evaluating hazards and risks in agriculture and food industries. Training for apple cider producers in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and controlling processes and production under tighter controls.
