Lauren Lytle

Lauren Lytle of Warren County is the state winner in the Family and Consumer Science Leadership project. She is the daughter of Mark and Hilda Lytle. She has had a leadership role in many different project groups and served as June Dairy Month chairperson. She was a member of the reserve national champion consumer decision making contest as a part of her state-winning project. She has served as a junior representative on State 4-H Council and was a teen leader at Electric Camp. She credits the 4-H program with helping her to discover where her true interests are because of the diversity of the program. Upon graduation, Lauren plans to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville pursuing a variety of interests including foreign relations, forensic science and architecture.


Morgan Marsh

Morgan Marsh of Madison County is attending National Congress as a state winner in the Companion Animal project. She is the daughter of John and Lola Marsh. Morgan has been in the companion animal project for eight years and has attended dog training classes in addition to caring for pets of family members as a part of her project work. She has volunteered in her county 4-H group by assisting with county contests and the 4-H Chicken Shack at the West Tennessee State Fair. Morgan believes one of her greatest accomplishments was being named the Level II companion animal project.


Rachel Mashburn

Rachel Mashburn of Shelby County is a state winner in the Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries project. She is the daughter of Mart and Trena Mashburn. In her project, she has assisted in planting over 4,000 tress at the Wolf River Conservancy and helped train junior and junior high forestry judging teams. Rachel has participated on the forestry judging team and was reserve high individual winner in the state contest in 2007 and 2008. She has served as a teen leader of the sewing project group, president of her local 4-H club and vice president of the 4-H Honor Club. Outside of 4-H, Rachel is the president of the Student Government Association and serves as treasurer for the National Homeschool Honor Society. She plans to pursue a career in engineering.


Mara McDonald

Mara McDonald of Putnam County is a state winner in the Horticulture/Garden project. She is the daughter of Wayne and Deborah McDonald. As a part of her state winning project, Mara co-chaired the Farm Day for 1,000 1st graders and taught them how to plant half runner beans. She is also a member of the Putnam County Master Gardeners program. She has also participated in several other 4-H projects including clothing and textiles, citizenship, leadership, line and design and was a member of the forestry judging team. Mara has had the opportunity to participate in several leadership roles including State 4-H Speaker of the House, Central Regional All Star scout, senior representative on State 4-H Council and has been a teen leader at various 4-H camps. She has also been a bible school teacher at church and a co-chair of various projects with the Master Gardeners. Mara is attending Tennessee Technological University and majoring in nursing.


Amber Moore

Amber Moore of McNairy County worked as a member of the Heath Rocks state training team as a part of her winning Nutrition, Health and Fitness project. She attended State 4-H Congress, was a project group leader at Bethel Springs School and wildlife judging team member. She credits her participation in 4-H with helping her develop communication and organizational skills. She currently serves as the State All-Star deputy chief. She will graduate in 2011 from Gateway Christian School. Amber is the daughter of Roger and Rose Moore.


Emily Mote

Emily Mote of Rutherford County is attending National 4-H Congress as the state winner in the Goat project. Emily is the daughter of Kathleen and Mitchell Mote. Her eight years in the goat project gave her the skills and knowledge to plan educational programs for other goat project participants and to exhibit the Supreme Champion Farm Bred Market Goat at the 2008 State Fair. In addition to these skills, Emily says the 4-H program has taught her communication skills and responsibility. She has participated as a member of the livestock and horse judging teams. Emily is also a member of the Rutherford County 4-H Honor Club and Tennessee 4-H All Stars. In addition to her 4-H activities, she has served as freshman president, secretary and vice president of the Riverdale High School FFA chapter.


Megan Myers

Megan Myers of Rutherford County is a state winner in the Consumer Education/Economics project. She is the daughter of Michael and Kimberly Myers. She has worked in her family’s business assisting with customer service as well as helping younger 4-H’ers to create budgets. Megan has also participated in the horse and dog projects. She is a member of the Rutherford County Honor Club. She has served as secretary of her local 4-H club; a teen leader at Line and Design Camp and junior camp; and June Dairy month chairperson. She appreciates the opportunities 4-H has given her to develop her leadership and public speaking skills. In addition to her 4-H work, Megan is very involved in her church and has served as treasurer for her FBLA chapter. She plans to attend Motlow State Community College or Middle Tennessee State University.
