JUNIOR DAIRY SHOW ONLINE ENTRY SYSTEM IS NOW OPEN
The State Junior Dairy Show Online Entry System opened on July 2 and will close on August 1. All entries must be made online by the county UT Extension office through the animal science Web site at animalscience.ag.utk.edu/DairyEntry/4-HDairyEntryProcedure.htm. Thanks!

PRICE INCREASE FOR HONOR CLUB PINS
We have depleted our Honor Club pins and have a new supply on order. As with everything else, they are quite a bit more expense compared to the last ones we ordered. The price of Honor Club pins will increase from $5.25 to $6.00. Beginning this month, invoices will reflect the new price.

PROJECT CITIZEN TRAINING DEADLINE EXTENDED
Please note that the deadline for the Project Citizen training registration has been extended until Tuesday, July 15, 2008. The registration in SUPER has closed so please email me your registration.
The Project Citizen training (designed for middle school youth) will be offered in each region of the state. The trainings will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided for the training.
Western Region
West Tennessee Ag Center (Room A), Jackson - July 30, 2008
Central Region
Ward Ag Center (Arnett Building), Lebanon - July 31, 2008
Eastern Region

The training is limited to 60 people. Extension agents, 4-H program assistants or a 4-H volunteer leader from your county are invited to attend the training. This training will provide each attendee with a teachers guide and a classroom set of student workbooks to use when implementing the program. This curriculum will be an integral part of the 4-H Civic Engagement action agenda. Participants will receive the Life Skills indicators which can be used for evaluation of the program.

STATE DAIRY JUDGING CONTEST TO BE HELD AUGUST 7
The 2008 State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest will be held on Thursday, August 7, at the Williamson County Fair in Franklin. Competition will be held for senior teams ONLY, with the winning team representing Tennessee in the national dairy judging contest in October.
Team members must be in the 9-12th grades as of January 1, 2008. Entry forms must be mailed to Jeff Mitchell at jmitchel@tennessee.edu by Tuesday, July 31, 2008. The entry form may be found at animalscience.ag.utk.edu/dairy/dairy_4-H_judging_contest.htm.
A policies and procedures manual has been developed for the Tennessee State 4-H Dairy Judging program. Please review the document carefully as it addresses several concerns and issues raised in the past. You may access the manual from the UT Dairy Extension site at animalscience.ag.utk.edu/dairy/pdf/4-H/TN4-HDairyJudgingManual2004.pdf.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
8:30 a.m. - On site registration
9:00 a.m. - Contest begins
11:30 a.m. - Lunch
12:00 noon - Contestants begin reasons
2:30 p.m. - Finish oral reasons
3:00 p.m. - Awards ceremony |
There is no registration fee, and lunch will be provided for all contestants. Pre-registration is required so there can be an accurate lunch count.
